Psychoanalysis and the Arab World Lab

The Psychoanalysis and the Arab World Lab is a decolonial psychoanalytic space of knowledge production aimed at forging research communities between GWU students and scholars, researchers, students, and cultural producers and activists in and from the Arab world and the Global South. The Psychoanalysis and the Arab World Lab approaches research from a decolonial feminist methodology and takes up questions of liberatory and anti-oppressive theory and praxis, with specific focus on decentering colonial and Euro/Western-centric epistomologies of mental health. The Psychoanalysis and the Arab World Lab is interested in questions that take up the nexus between Psychoanalysis/ Psychology and gender and sexuality, ableism and disability, race, class, ethnocentrism, racial capitalism, fascism, settler colonialism and colonialism.
